It should be the best time of half-vampire Cat Crawfield’s life. With her undead lover Bones at her side, she’s successfully protected mortals from the rogue undead. But though Cat’s worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover’s finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger.

As if that wasn’t enough, a woman from Bones’s past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat’s about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she’s learned as a special agent won’t help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself—and Bones—from a fate worse than the grave.

Cat si Bones in sfarsit ar trebui sa fie fericiti, in sfarsit se pot iubi in voie, nimic nu le mai sta in cale.

“You arrogant, overpublicized, showy old bat, what are you waiting for? Aren’t you the king of all bogeymen? The legend children fear will devour them if they misbehave? Come on Vlad, live up to your reputation! If you can’t burn to death one Egyptian vampire chained to a wall how did you ever drive the Turks from Romania?”

Povestea continua in: Destined for and early grave

destined-early-grave-xlHer deadly dreams leave her in grave danger

As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor’s hold over her. She’ll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she’s ever faced . . . even if getting that power will result in an early grave.

Enjoy 🙂

It’s been a long, busy year but I am finally in the finishing stages of Book Three of the Never Cry Werewolf series.

It’s another novella sequel that follows Shelby after her escape from the evil Senefelder Academy for girls, and it takes place mostly at the ancestral castle of the Bridges family, deep in the heart of Muldania.

I’m hoping to publish it in final form at the end of January — so stay tuned for more news on that.

There are no heroes.

Every single person who manifested powers—we call them Epics—turned out to be evil.

Here, in the city once known as Chicago, an extraordinarily powerful Epic declared himself Emperor. Steelheart has the strength of ten men and can control the elements. It is said no bullet can harm him, no sword can split his skin, no explosion can burn him. He is invincible.

It has been ten years. We live our lives as best we can. Nobody fights back . . . nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans who spend their lives studying powerful Epics, finding their weaknesses, then assassinating them.

My name is David Charleston. I’m not one of the Reckoners, but I intend to join them. I have something they need. Something precious, something incredible. Not an object, but an experience. I know his secret.

I’ve seen Steelheart bleed.

Descriere alternativa:

Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.

But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his wills.

Nobody fights the Epics… nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.

And David wants in. He wants Steelheart—the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David’s father. For years, like the Reckoners, David’s been studying, and planning—and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.

He’s seen Steelheart bleed. And he wants revenge.

Makenna James thinks her day can’t get any worse, until she finds herself stuck in a pitch-black elevator with a complete stranger. Distracted by a phone call and juggling too much stuff, the pin-striped accountant caught only a glimpse of a dragon tattoo on his hand before the lights went out.

Caden Grayson is amused when a redhead literally falls at his feet. His amusement turns to panic when the power fails. Despite his piercings, tats, and vicious scar, he’s terrified of the dark and confined spaces. Now, he’s trapped in his own worst nightmare.

To fight fear, they must both reach out and open up. With no preconceived notions based on looks to hold them back, they discover just how much they have in common. In the warming darkness, attraction grows and sparks fly, but will they feel the same when the lights come back on?

Carte nerecomandata minorilor sub 18 ani!

“His demanding tongue tasted so damn good, and his piercing bit deliciously against her lip from the aggressive way he pursued her over and over. His hands tugged and massaged at her hair and neck. He just surrounded her. The difference in their height made Caden lean down over her. The way he forced her head back commanded her to open up to him. With the metal handle of the door pressing into her back, she felt completely enveloped in him, in his ardor, his scent. The world dropped away. There was just Caden.”

My Cast

Candice Accola as Makenna James

Channing Tatum as Caden Grayson

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Oricum, am trecut peste toate scenele acelea si in final a meritat.

“To douchebags!” he said, gesturing to Brad. „And to girls that break your heart,” he bowed his head to me. His eyes lost focus. „And to the absolute fucking horror of losing your best friend because you were stupid enough to fall in love with her.”

“I know we’re fucked up, alright? I’m impulsive, and hot tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don’t deserve you…but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I loved anyone or anything ever. When you’re around, I don’t need booze, or money, or the fighting, or the one-night stands…”

“You can’t tell me what to do anymore, Travis! I don’t belong to you!” In the second it took him to turn and face me, hisexpression had contorted into anger. He stomped toward me, planting his hands on the bed and leaning into my face. “WELL I BELONG TO YOU!” The veins in his neck bulged as he shouted, and I met his glare, refusing to even flinch. He looked at my lips, panting. “I belong to you.”

“You know why I want you? I didn’t know I was lost until you found me. I didn’t know what alone was until the first night I spent without you in my bed. You’re the one thing I’ve got right. You’re what I’ve been waiting for, Pigeon.”

“-It’s over. Go home. -You’re my home.”

“I need to hear you say it. I need to know you’re mine.”  “I’ve been yours since the second we met.”

“I clinked my bottle against his. “To being the only girl a guy with no standards doesn’t want to sleep with.” I said, taking a swig. “Are you serious?” he asked, pulling the bottle from my  mouth. When I didn’t recant, he leaned toward me. “First of  all…I have standards. I’ve never been with an ugly woman.  Ever. Second of all, I wanted to sleep with you. I thought  about throwing you over my couch fifty different ways, but I  haven’t because I don’t see you that way anymore. It’s not  that I’m not attracted to you, I just think you’re better than  that.”  I couldn’t hold back the smug smile that crept across my  face. “You think I’m too good for you.”  He sneered at my second insult. “I can’t think of a single  guy I know that’s good enough for you.”

“I know you deserve better than me. You think I don’t know that? But  if there was any woman made for me…it’s you. I’ll do  whatever I have to do, Pidge. Do you hear me? I’ll do anything.”

„You said you’re done with me, and I accept that. I’m a different person since I met you. I’ve changed… for the better. But no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to do right by you. We were friends first, Pigeon. I will always love you, but if I can’t make you happy, it doesn’t make much sense for me to try to get you back. I can’t imagine being with anyone else, but I’ll be happy as long as we’re friends.
„You want to be friends?” I asked, the words burning in my mouth.
„I want you to be happy. Whatever that takes.”

Ok, acum dupa atatea citate va las nota :))

Povestea  continua in Walking Disaster

Beautiful Disaster told in Travis point of view.

How much is too much to love?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. Just when he thought he was invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Jamie McGuire’s New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

„Okay. That was it. “You know, you’re right. How wrong of me to call you a douchebag.Because a douchebag is too nice of a word for you,” I said, smiling sweetly. “You’re a dickhead.”

“A dickhead?” he repeated. “Howcharming.”I flipped him off.He laughed again and bent his head. A messof waves fell forward, nearly obscuring hisintense green eyes. “Very civilized, Kitten. I’msure you have a wild array of interesting namesand gestures for me, but not interested.” I didhave a lot more I could say and do, but Igathered my dignity, pivoted, and stomped back over to my house, not giving him the pleasure of seeing how truly pissed I was. I’d alwaysavoided confrontation in the past, but this guywas flipping my bitch switch like nothing else. When I reached my car, I yanked open the door.“See you later, Kitten!” he called out, laughing as he slammed the front door.”

Povestea continua in: Onyx

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there’s this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that’s possible. Against all common sense, I’m falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Happy Halloween, I’m gonna make a post later about that:)

Today I’m back with an interview and a e-giveaway. I hope you enjoy the interview that I do with Chrystalla:)

1.- Welcome Chrystalla! Thank you so much for stopping by. Rex Rising is your debut novel. How does it feel to have your story out there after, I can only imagine, a lot of hard work?

Hi, thanks for having me over. 🙂

To your question: it’s an amazing feeling, a mixture of elation and fear – elation because it’s out there, at last, and a tiny bit of fear whether it’s good enough, whether readers will enjoy it. Typical feelings, I suppose.

2.- Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do when you’re not writing?

Well, I’m Greek Cypriot and I lived abroad for many years – in France, England, Germany and Costa Rica. I’ve just recently returned to Cyprus to stay. I have a degree in English literature and translation and I’m working as a freelance translator and text editor at the moment.

When not writing… I’m editing. lol. OK, I have some more interests. I read a lot, mostly fantasy and science and history books. I also love watching movies, mostly science fiction. I like to wander the countryside and visit archaeological sites (an old passion of mine: I wanted to become an archaeologist). I also cook dangerously spicy Indian dishes, draw and spend time with my family. I know, very exciting… 🙂

3.- What was your biggest source of inspiration before and while writing the book?

Difficult question… I will have to say ParasiteRex by Carl Zimmer ( This is a non-fiction book about parasites and their strange behavior and abilities. It reads like a mixture of horror and science fiction but it’s all true! Terrifying and amazing. When I read it back in 2004 (I think!), I immediately thought, “what if I could apply such facts to humans?” (most of the parasites in the book have insects and marine creatures as their hosts). In fact, there was one parasite I found so fascinating, it gave birth to my all-women race (the Gultur race). It’s called Wollbachia. This tiny parasite changes its hosts (flies) so much that they cannot survive without it, nor can they reproduce. It is a very interesting creature and worth reading about. (

4.- Do you have any special rituals you do when you sit down to write?

I always sacrifice a black cat and draw a pentagram… kidding. 🙂 Rituals: I brew myself a pot of strong coffee, and if it’s warm and dry, I take my laptop with me to the balcony to write. I usually have a half dozen websites open – from websites I use for research, to dictionaries, to Facebook and Twitter. I can’t concentrate for very long on one thing, so I hop from one to the other, and then back to writing. My brain appreciates small breaks. 🙂

5.- What are you reading right now and what book(s) have you had your eye on lately but haven’t gotten to read yet?

Right now I’m reading an author I’ve just discovered, SM Reine. I’m reading her “Descent” series. Awesome gritty urban fantasy, with demons, angels, zombies and a kick-ass heroine.

As for what I have my eye on: I recently bought “The Windup Girl” by Paolo Bacigalupi. It looks very interesting, featuring the New People, a race of engineered humans, and a crazy post-apocalyptic world. It’s sitting next to me right now, and I can’t wait to read it.

6.- How many books do you plan on writing for the Elei’s Chronicles? Do you have a set plotline/ending in sight or are you just seeing where the characters and the story take you?

Good questions… There will be four books in the series. Rex Equilibrium (book 3) is coming out on November 6th, and Rex Aftermath (book 4) is scheduled to come out in late spring. I do have an ending in sight, but I admit that my characters are willful and insisted on more books than I initially planned. It’s my story, but they decided they had a lot more to say and do before we reached the end.

I also have plans for a book (at least one!) from Kalaes’ perspective, and maybe more will force themselves out of me…

7.- How did you come up with the idea for the book?

Well, apart from getting inspiration from “Parasite Rex” as mentioned further up, I had this vision of a boy running for his life, not knowing why everyone was after him. Something like the Bourne Identity, I guess (although I didn’t know Ludlum’s work back then.) Add to that the parasites fighting each other, the post-apocalyptic world of the islands, and a situation where the protagonist doesn’t know if to trust his gut feeling or facts about the people surrounding him, and you’ve got Rex Rising.

8.- If your book was made into a movie, who would you want to play the main characters?

Funny, we had a discussion about this on the Rex Rising group on Facebook the other day (…  Someone suggested Luke Pasqualino ( for Elei. I think Zach Roerig (but with darker hair) could also be good.

I think Ben Barnes (but with spiky hair) would make a good Kalaes (

Kaya Scodelario ( could be Hera, and Emma Watson ( could be Maera…

This was fun…

 9.- Vampire or werewolf? Why?

Vampire, definitely. I don’t like furry men. 😉

Now, seriously. I prefer vampires because they’re very old and wise and cruel. They’ve been around for a very long time and they have magic. Werewolves, apart from shifting when the moon is full, don’t seem to have much going for them, (in my opinion) although I do like cat-shifters, like panther and puma shifters.

10.- What advice would you give to aspiring writers out there?

Black magic isn’t enough; what matters is hard work. Write every day, or as often as you can. See what works and what doesn’t in successful stories, learn about story structure and characterization, and be open to criticism from other authors. Learn your craft, and trust in yourself.

Thank you for stopping by:)

Fissure (The Patrick Chronicles #1)

Patrick Hayward’s never been a one woman type of guy, that’s why he never dates just one. However, still reeling the loss of the one woman he took a chance on falling in love with to his older brother, Patrick is enrolled—sequestered, if you asked him—at Stanford in hopes of breaking him out of his months long, beard growing, rootbeer chugging, hygiene impaired, funk.

Something breaks when a certain Emma Scarlett storms into his life his first week on campus as he’s suntanning and cat calling when he should be in class. Emma sees through his act and calls him out like she’s seen his kind a million times before, but Patrick knows he isn’t one of a million, he’s one in a million.

Intrigued by this fascinating creature that is ignorant to his charm, surrounded by four older brothers who look at Patrick like he’s a bug they could squish, and dating the same guy for the past six years who gives new meaning to the term territorial boyfriend, Patrick gravitates to her, knowing she’s everything he shouldn’t fall for.

So, of course, he can’t help himself.

Forcing the stars to realign and slapping fate in the face, Patrick takes matters into his own hands and finds a way to wrangle his way into Emma’s life at every chance. As Emma begins to open up to him, he’s about to discover she’s thwarted by as many secrets as he is.

But hers are the kind that make you want to keep your light on at night.

Patrick never could have imagined a more unhappy ever after for himself than the one he’s about to face.

Fusion (The Patrick Chronicles #2)

Patrick Hayward isn’t used to feeling helpless. He’s a man of action used to controlling his destiny. But falling in love with Emma Scarlett had a way of upending everything, his sanity included. Locked away as inmate number one-three-seven-oh for a crime he didn’t commit, Patrick spends his days slopping toxic sludge onto trays, resisting the urge to tear the scratchy, orange jumpsuit from his body, and making sure every hardened criminal behind bars with him knows he’s the biggest and baddest of them all. With the help of his handy little gift of teleportation, his nights are spent watching a certain green eyed goddess from the shadows.
When he discovers a couple of Inheritors stalking her one night, he realizes the obstacle of explaining who and what he is to Emma might not be the biggest battle they face.

Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.
When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Fuse (Pure, #2)When the world ended, those who dwelled within the Dome were safe. Inside their glass world the Pures live on unscarred, while those outside—the Wretches—struggle to survive amidst the smoke and ash.

Believing his mother was living among the Wretches, Partridge escaped from the Dome to find her. Determined to regain control over his son, Willux, the leader of the Pures, unleashes a violent new attack on the Wretches. It’s up to Pressia Belze, a young woman with her own mysterious past, to decode a set of cryptic clues from the past to set the Wretches free.

An epic quest that sweeps readers into a world of beautiful brutality, Fusecontinues the story of two people fighting to save their futures—and change the fate of the world.

Pure (Pure, #1)Pure (Pure #1)

We know you are here, our brothers and sisters . . .
Pressia barely remembers the Detonations or much about life during the Before. In her sleeping cabinet behind the rubble of an old barbershop where she lives with her grandfather, she thinks about what is lost-how the world went from amusement parks, movie theaters, birthday parties, fathers and mothers . . . to ash and dust, scars, permanent burns, and fused, damaged bodies. And now, at an age when everyone is required to turn themselves over to the militia to either be trained as a soldier or, if they are too damaged and weak, to be used as live targets, Pressia can no longer pretend to be small. Pressia is on the run.

Burn a Pure and Breathe the Ash . . .
There are those who escaped the apocalypse unmarked. Pures. They are tucked safely inside the Dome that protects their healthy, superior bodies. Yet Partridge, whose father is one of the most influential men in the Dome, feels isolated and lonely. Different. He thinks about loss-maybe just because his family is broken; his father is emotionally distant; his brother killed himself; and his mother never made it inside their shelter. Or maybe it’s his claustrophobia: his feeling that this Dome has become a swaddling of intensely rigid order. So when a slipped phrase suggests his mother might still be alive, Partridge risks his life to leave the Dome to find her.

When Pressia meets Partridge, their worlds shatter all over again.

In her small town, dubbed „Dullsville,” sixteen-year-old Raven – a vampire-crazed goth-girl – is an outcast. But not for long…

The intriguing and rumored-to-be haunted mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood vacant and boarded-up for years. That is, until its mysteriously strange new occupants move in. Who are these creepy people – especially the handsome, dark, and elusive Alexander Sterling? Or rather, what are they? Could the town prattle actually ring true? Are they vampires? Raven, who secretly covets a vampire kiss, both at the risk of her own mortality and Alexander’s loving trust, is dying to uncover the truth.

Ellen Schreiber’s spooky and stirring romance tells the story of two outsiders who fall in love in a town where conformity reigns, and ends with a shocking surprise.

„Trevor was completely blind in the darkness, feeling everything with his hands and lips. He kissed me all over my face and touched the small of my back. Even blind, it didn’t take him long to find the buttons on my shirt. „No, you first,” I told him. I lifted off his sweater, as unclumsily as I could. I had never done this before. He was wearing a V-neck T-shirt underneath and an undershirt underneath that. This is going to take forever, I thought. I felt his naked chest. Why not? It was right in front of me. It was soft and smooth and muscular. He pulled me closer, my lacy black rayon shirt touching his naked torso. „Now you, baby. I want you so bad,” he said, straight out of some skin flick on cable. „Me too, baby.” I sighed, rolling my eyes. I leaned him down slowly on the damp earth. I slid off his loafers and socks. He eagerly took off the rest.
He lay propped up on his arms, completely naked. I stared down at him in the faint moonlight, savoring the moment. How many girls had Mr. Gorgeous laid out by a tree, only to cast them aside the next day? I wasn’t the first and I wasn’t going to be the last. I was just going to be different.

Povestea continua in: Kissing Coffins (Vampire Kisses #2)

Not far from Dullsville someone’s lurking in the dark.

After meeting the handsome and shadowy Alexander Sterling, Goth-girl Raven’s dark world has a bright, new glow. But as in her favourite movie, Kissing Coffins, Raven knows that love always has its complications, especially when Alexander has a big secret to guard. When Alexander suddenly disappears, Raven leaves Dullsville to begin a dangerous search to find him.

Can she stay safe, no matter who-or what-she encounters on the

There’s nowhere left to hide.

I thought vampires were our enemies – they controlled our lives, isolated our cities, and demanded our blood – until I met Victor. With Victor taking over as the new Lord Valentine, things were supposed to get better. Instead, they’re worse than ever.

Day Walkers, a new breed of vampires who can walk in the sun, are terrorizing the city. Blood supplies are low, and if Victor’s vampires don’t get enough, they will become infected with the Thirst – a disease that will turn them into mindless killers.

To stop it, I must journey across the desolate wasteland to the very place where the sickness began. I can only hope that the answers that await me are enough to save us all . . . before it’s too late.

E draguta? Are doua gavane goale si negre in loc de ochi?

„As soon as he takes care of the hitchhiker, Cas and his mother are moving to the town of Thunder Bay so that Cas can hunt another ghost.  This ghost is called Anna Dressed in Blood because when her throat was cut she bled so much that her white dress turned completely red.  Cas doesn’t know it yet, but Anna is more powerful, more dangerous, and at the same time more human than any ghost he’s ever encountered before.  Anna might change his life … if she doesn’t end it first.”

1.-Welcome Maggie! Thank you so much for stopping by. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you like to do when you’re not writing?

Hi, Sergio.  Thank you so much for having me as a guest on your fabulous blog. I just love what you’ve done with the place.  So about me, well, I’ve written everything from daytime television (soap operas) to a newspaper advice column, but my favorite thing is writing novels and short stories where love triumphs over all.  In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors, kayaking, jogging.  I also practice witchcraft for real, read tarot cards, do some informal life coaching and of course I love to read.

2.- What was your biggest source of inspiration before and while writing the Portal series?

I’ve always to write about real witches practicing real magic.  And I’ve always been fascinated by the civilizations of ancient Mesopotamia, particularly Sumer and Babylon.  I’ve studied about them for years now, since the mid-nineties.  So combining these two loves seemed like a natural progression.

3.-How many books do you plan on writing for the Portal series? Do you have a set plotline/ending in sight or are you just seeing where the characters and the story take you?

For now, there are three full length novels and the shorter prequel.

LEGACY OF THE WITCH (prequel, ebook only)

4.- Who is your favorite character, and who do you think will be/has been the most challenging for you to write?

In this series, my favorite character is Indira.  I love her sassy, sarcastic attitude and her struggle to quit smoking, one I’ve been through myself, many many times before I finally was able to kick the habit.  I smoked vicariously through her as I wrote those scenes.

Most challenging in this series was the hero of BLOOD OF THE SORCERESS, Demetrius. A most unusual character. I had to figure out to convince him to trade immortality and invulnerability for mortality and the ability to experience the human senses and emotions fully.  It was a tough sell.

5.- If you had to describe Mark of the Witch in three words, what would they be and why?

Inspired. Because once I got the notion clear in my mind, the story flowed as if on its own. I love when that happens.

Honest. Because I was adamant about being factual with the practices of the witches in the story.

Personal. Because it delves into some of my most deeply held spiritual truths. (Disclaimer: my truths are not necessarily true for anyone but me.)

6.- Would you tell us some quick fun facts about the Portal series as well as what we can expect from the books (romance, action, etc.)?

In MARK OF THE WITCH the hero and heroine are a Witch and a Priest. I wanted a Catholic priest, but my publisher wouldn’t quite let me go that far into controversial territory. Just know that to me, that’s who Tomas is/was.

In DAUGHTER OF THE SPELLCASTER I was inspired by the 1968 film Rosemary’s Baby. I watched it several times during the writing of the book and tried to capture that eerie feeling. My editor felt I succeeded.

In BLOOD OF THE SORCERESS I had no idea who one of the side characters really was until I got almost to the end of the first draft, and then had to change everything to accommodate this new twist. And it really was a twist!

I like action in my books.  I don’t write a lot of sex. In fact, I enjoy the attraction, desire, resistance play that happens as they get closer and closer to finally making love, far more than I enjoy detailed descriptions of the sex act.  I almost never include more than one or two sex scenes per book. It’s not about sex to me. Romance is about love, about finding your true love and about overcoming every obstacle in order to be with him.

7.- What are you reading right now and what book(s) have you had your eye on lately but haven’t gotten to read yet?

I’m still reading Anne Rice’s latest, The Gift of the Wolf. I am dying to read The Hunger Games which others have raved about.

8.- If you were given the option to be able to look into the future, would you take it? Why or why not?

I believe we create the future. Every time I sit and worry over something that might happen, I’m creating it.  So I don’t do that.  Every time I sit and think about something wonderful that might happen, I’m creating it. So I do a lot of that.

9.- Did you ever want to be a mystical creature?

I’m a witch.  Card carrying, pedigreed, lineaged Wiccan High Priestess, legal clergy, Elder, founder of a branch of the faith.  To some, I already am a mystical creature.  Though I really wish my broomstick would actually fly.

10.- Who are your favorite authors? And books?

Anne Rice: best title: THE MUMMY or RAMSES THE DAMNED (that’s the title, one book)

Stephen King. Everything the man writes is golden.

Anne Stuart: Night of the Phantom is my fave of hers but I love them all.

Emma Cane: Her Valentine, Colorado Series is a favorite of mine right now, very country, down home (not paranormal) type books.

Heather Graham, Teresa Medeiros, Sandra Brown, Christina Dodd: these are the writers I always always read, everything they release, every single time.

11.- Would you like to say something to your Romanian fans?

I think the place I most want to visit in all the world is Romania.  When I ended (and I use the term loosely) my Wings in the Night series with the final pair of books, TWILIGHT PROPHECY and TWILIGHT FULFILLED, my vampire family had to go into hiding and allow the world to believe they had been exterminated. The place they went was Romania, because who’s going to really believe there are vampires there? It’s too expected, too cliche. Any vampire sightings coming from Romania would be discounted. (I don’t know if you know it there, but the idea of vampires in Romania is about as common as the idea of leprechauns in Ireland. So if someone said, “No, there really ARE leprechauns in Ireland!” they would not be taken seriously. It’s a cliche. So that’s where my beloved vamps are hiding out.  In Romania.  I will bring them out of hiding someday, and when I do, I’m going to need your help. I’m going to need to be able to feel as if I’ve been there, seen it, even before I have. I have to feel the energy of Romania in order to be able to really write about it.  So if you locals would like to help me, send me pictures, post them on my Facebook page or email them to me, tell me your stories, tell about where you live and what it’s like there. Make me feel as I’ve visited your homeland. I would SO enjoy that, and can use what I learn later one, when I someday revisit my vampire series.

Thank you so much for this interview, Maggie, it was a pleasure to have you here.

The pleasure was all mine!

In aceste doua saptamani veti face recenzii, interviuri, concursuri, posturi cu cartile favorite/ autorii cartilor favorite. (nu e obligatoriu!)

Toate cartile ajunse in semifinale vor primi cel putin cate trei recenzii.

Etapa IV – FINALA:

O singura carte castiga, dar ambele carti ajunse in finala vor fi aduse in atentia editurilor din Romania.

Recenzie: Delirium de Lauren Oliver

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love – the deliria – blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

I’d rather die my way than live yours.”

“Love, the deadliest of all things: it will kill you when you have it, and when you don’t.”

“You know you can’t be happy unless you’re unhappy sometimes, right?” she whispers, and her voice is hoarse, as though she’s just been crying.”

“Hearts are fragile things. That’s why you have to be so careful.”

“He is my world and my world is him and without him there is no world.”

“And now I know why they invented words for love, why they had to: It’s the only thing that can come close to describing what I feel in that moment, the baffling mixture of pain and pleasure and fear and joy, all running sharply through me at once.”

“And I love you too.” His fingers skate the edge of my jaw, dance briefly over my lips. “You should know that. You have to know that.”

Vreau sa citesc… +Movie!

1.- Welcome Suzanne! Thank you so much for stopping by. At the beginning tell us something about you.

Thank you for inviting me to be here! I have spent most of my career as a journalist, writing for college magazines. I live in Alabama now, but have also lived in Illinois, California, Texas, and Louisiana. I lived in New Orleans for fifteen years before moving to Alabama in 2008. I am single and have two very spoiled dogs named Shane and Tanker.

2.-Royal Street is your debut urban fantasy novel. How does it feel to have your story out there after, I can only imagine, a lot of hard work?

It has been a lot of fun to finally see it on store shelves and online, and to get to talk to people about it and see what they liked. I turned in the manuscript for the third book in the series the week before the first one went on sale, which was weird. I have to be careful not to give away things that happen in the second and third books!

3.- How the story came out in your mind?

I consider New Orleans my hometown, and was living there when Hurricane Katrina hit in August 2005. Levees around the city collapsed, and 80 percent of the city went underwater, some areas for as long as two months. Many people died; everyone I knew either lost their homes or had a lot of damage. It was a hard time, and I wanted to tell a story that would be entertaining but also honor my hometown and the amazing people who have called it home, past and present. I decided to write the story as an urban fantasy because that’s the type of stories I like to read.

4.- Who is your favorite character of the book?

The one I’d most like to hang out with is my main character, DJ, because she’s not the strongest wizard in the world but she is funny and honest and loyal and puts her whole heart into whatever she does. But my favorite character to write about is the pirate Jean Lafitte. The real Lafitte was a French-born pirate in New Orleans in the early 1800s and a very interesting man. In Royal Street, he is an immortal who comes into the modern city from the “Beyond”—the Otherworld—after the hurricane tears down the barriers between worlds. He is charming and devious, so I have fun with him. He plays an even bigger part in the second and third books.

5.- Do you have a favorite chapter that you enjoy and have fun writing it?

I think it would be chapters 8-9, which is when DJ first meets her new partner, Alex, who is a gun-wielding assassin for the wizards’ elders. DJ has been in a fight with Jean Lafitte and, just when she thinks she’s getting the upper hand, Alex comes in and starts bossing her around.I like their chemistry together because they’re so different. DJ is impulsive and emotional. Alex sees everything in black and white.

6.- What was your biggest source of inspiration when you first started the book?

My own experiences in Hurricane Katrina, and being homesick for New Orleans because I’d just moved away to take another job. Royal Street started as a personal project, but I found I really loved writing fiction and creating this fantasy world on top of the New Orleans I knew.

7.- Who are the authors that inspire you on writing the series?

My favorite author is Stephen King. I grew up reading his novels and think he’s still one of the best storytellers out there. In urban fantasy, I enjoy Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files series and Kim Harrison’s Hollows series. I also like some paranormal romance—J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series is amazing!

8.- Do you have a favorite book or books that you loved reading it?

So many! Besides the authors and series I just mentioned, I enjoy reading author Rick Bragg, who writes memoir-type books about his family. I grew up in the same part of the U.S. in a family not that different from his, so I love his books All Over But the Shouting and Ava’s Man.My favorite book of all time is probably Stephen King’s The Stand.

9.- What are you reading right now and what book(s) have you had your eye on lately but haven’t gotten to read yet?

Right now, I’m reading Stephen King’s Wizard and Glass, which is the fourth book in his Dark Tower series—I read a few chapters each week and then write about them on the website The book I have my eye on to read next is called Dark Companion, a Young Adult book written by my friend Marta Acosta. It will be released in July and I’ve been waiting forever to read it!

10.- On a movie, who will you like to play the main characters of your book?

That’s hard! I think the actress Emilie de Ravin would make a good DJ. Maybe Gilles Marini for the pirate Jean Lafitte—he already has that French thing going. A younger Josh Holloway for Jake. And then there’s Alex….I’m still trying to cast Alex!

Thanks again for stopping by, it was great having you and best of luck with the series. I can’t wait to see where it goes.

Thank you–I enjoyed being here!

As the junior wizard sentinel for New Orleans, Drusilla Jaco’s job involves a lot more potion-mixing and pixie-retrieval than sniffing out supernatural bad guys like rogue vampires and lethal were-creatures. DJ’s boss and mentor, Gerald St. Simon, is the wizard tasked with protecting the city from anyone or anything that might slip over from the preternatural beyond.

Then Hurricane Katrina hammers New Orleans’ fragile levees, unleashing more than just dangerous flood waters.

While winds howled and Lake Pontchartrain surged, the borders between the modern city and the Otherworld crumbled. Now, the undead and the restless are roaming the Big Easy, and a serial killer with ties to voodoo is murdering the soldiers sent to help the city recover.

To make it worse, Gerry has gone missing, the wizards’ Elders have assigned a grenade-toting assassin as DJ’s new partner, and undead pirate Jean Lafitte wants to make her walk his plank. The search for Gerry and for the serial killer turns personal when DJ learns the hard way that loyalty requires sacrifice, allies come from the unlikeliest places, and duty mixed with love creates one bitter gumbo.

In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network. When Zoe starts to malfunction (or „glitch”), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers. As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse. In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy.

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy—a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody’s head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.

But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I’m determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why—especially since I should have been the one who died. . .

– Publishers Weekly

In the beginning, there’s a boy standing in the trees . . . .

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she’s part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn’t easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there’s another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara’s less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she’d have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.
